About us

I’m delighted to say that CRAIG LEVEIN (Scotland Football Manager) has agreed to open our Summer Fayre :-)
On the day we will be Auctioning a football signed by all the Manchester United team and Sir Alex Ferguson.

It’s shaping up to be a great day!!!

Jacks Grooming are now offering to bath your greyhound before he is rehomed :-)
anyone interested please let me know.  Jacks Grooming are charging only £5 to shampoo the greyhounds, which is wonderful – a very big thank you to them :-)
If your greyhound has already been homed with you but you would like them spoiled with a bath let me know :-)

We are going to have a ‘Walk’ on the last Sunday of every month.
Dates now listed under ‘News’

Photographs from our Sunday walks now have their own category :-)

Remember you don’t have to have rehomed your greyhound from RGT Edinburgh to join us – EVERYONE with a greyhound is very welcome :-)

A number of new ‘grey owners’ joined us for our first walk so welcome to them :-)
Remember we have an ‘open door’ every Sunday where you can just drop in for a chat/tea/coffee etc

WE NOW HAVE  ‘GREYHOUND TRIBUTES’.
If you have a Greyhound poem or a Tribute to one of your Greys that has gone to Rainbow Bridge please send it in and I will publish it on our Website.

RGT Edinburgh was set up in 1994 by the late Don Ferguson following the demise of nearby Powderhall racing track.
RGT Edinburgh is now run by the Carmichael Family. Janis & Ian, together with their their son Gary & their grandchildren Lewis, Lana & Leah, are committed to caring for retired greyhounds at their Edinburgh kennels until a suitable home is found for each dog.  They believe that all greyhounds deserve a life after racing and want everyone to know what excellent pets these dogs make.
RGT Edinburgh will never have a healthy dog put to sleep, our aim is to rehome these beautiful and loyal animals after their racing career finishes.
Family friend Alison Brown is on board to help with fundraising and assist with the rehoming process.  Louise volunteers by walking the RGT dogs on a Sunday, this helps with socialisation as greyhounds have had little, if any, interaction with any animals other than greyhounds.  Walking them prepares them for a life outside of the kennels :-)

RGT give PETPLAN Charity Cover – when you get your greyhound you will be given documentation which covers you for 4 weeks Pet Insurance FREE with PETPLAN.   You have the option to continue with PETPLAN or cancel after the 4 week period.

All greyhounds being re-homed by RGT Edinburgh are neutered, microchipped & vaccinated.  It would be very unusual for them to need dental work; but should it be required that would also be done prior to re-homing.

RGT Edinburgh is a branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust
